8th June, 2016
H.R. 2576: Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act passed both the U.S. House and Senate on June 7, 2016. Embedded in this bill is language that makes skilled nursing facilities eligible for the Rural Health Care Program. The bill is being sent to President Obama for his signature.
Funding eligibility would begin 180 days from enactment. The 180 days allows the FCC to update their rules and USAC the time to modify their systems to deal with the change.
The time for planning is now. It is an opportune time for you to assess the broadband needs of your SNF facilities.
If you have skilled nursing facilities please let us know and we will keep you apprised of the progress of this legislation and, if passed, the progress of the Rural Health Care Program changes.
